A1963: alfa precursor survey of ngc2903
mar05
Intro:
a1963 is doing a deep map of ngc2903 and its surrounding
area. The setup is 12.5 Mhz centered at 1417 Mhz. Each nite a
map of the area is taken using drift scans:
-
Go to the edge of the map and do a 480 sec drift scan. Then do a 1 second
calon/caloff pair.
-
move the telescope to the start of the next strip, rotate the alfa
feed to maintain a constant parallactic angle, and then do another
drift, cal pair.
-
Continue doing consecutive strips until the source sets.
-
On the following days start over with the map.
-
Some days may not have complete maps so you may need to fill in the pieces.
-
Use the gui routine azimuth fixed drift for the mapping.
Eventually all of the maps will be added together.
