Terminology
- scan: set of data taken without changing the
configuration
- eg: on,off pattern: on scan,off
scan,calOnScan,calOffscan
- Scan number:
- Used to identify a scan. format: ydddnnnnn
- y -last digit of yr
- To resolve 10yr ambiguities..look at the julian date
in the header.
- ddd daynumber of year
- nnnnn .sequence number that starts over each day..
- Pattern: a set of scan used to make an observation:
- eg: position switched onoff
- mapping
- PatternId:
- unique number given to all scans in a pattern. It
usually matches the scan number of the first scan in the
pattern.
Intro.
The wapp correlator was used to take spectral
line data.
--> this page is being worked on.
Keeping track of the data taken
At the end of each month, the wapp spectral
line files were scanned and some meta data was stored in an idl
monthly save file. This included a structure holding the
filenames, and a structure hold scan info.
The structures have:
- SLFILEARWS
STRUCT = -> SLIND Array[64442] ..

Scanning the archive file structures showed
some discrepancies between the files struct and the scan
structures.
The current wapp data found under
/share/wappdata was also scanned to see how much of the original
files were still available online (or at least online in
/share/wappdata).
Comparing the files on disc and the files
from the monthly archive showed the following:
- 64442 files from idl archives (started 20aug2004)
- 44187 files on /share/wappdata (15 were dangling links)
- Comparing the files from the two sources
- 29982 files in the idl archive were no longer in
/share/wappdata
- Some files were probably renamed eg: A2010 ->
a2010.
- 3727 files in on /share/wappdata are in in the idl
archive
- 212 of these were prior to the idl archive start date
- If a file was renamed after the idl archive scanned
the directories then it would show up as missing.
- If the wapp data was placed in a directory that the
idls canning routine was not aware of then it would also
show up as missing.
The table below shows that files in the idl save archives
that are currently not on /share/wappdata.
- The largest group of missing online files are form
a2010.
- This is alfafa. this data was probably shipped to the
PI's at cornell.
