Intro
On 12may22 the tcl azstep procedure was used
to measure the rfi across the 12meter xband receiver. This was a
test for
projects that were planned for the single dish summer school
(16may22). (unfortunately no students selected this project.
Setup:
- The xb receiver was used.
- the mock spectrometer recorded the data:
- 7 mock boxes.
- each box 172.032 mhz bw
- center freqs each box:
- 8122. 8267. 8412. 8557. 8702. 8847. 8992. MHz
- spacing 145Mhz
- minfreq: 8036, maxFreq:9078, span; 1042 Mhz
- 8192 freq channels/band, 1 second spectral dumps.
- The telescope pattern was:
- move telescope to az=-90. el=10 degs
- set azInc 10deg
- loop 2
- 10 sec cal on,off
- loop 37
- 60 scan sitting
- if loop ne 37 increment az by azInc
- endloop
- 10 sec calon,off
- azInc=-azInc
- endloop
- so we did 2 azimuth rotations
- each rotation has a 10sec calon,off at the start,end
- We moved from -90 to +270 and then back in 10 deg
azimuth increments
- at each spot we did a 60 second integration (60 1
second spectra)
- data was taken from 8:00 to 9:30
Looking at the data"
The average spectra for each azimuth
position was over plotted (.png)
- Top: CW swing 0
- bottom : CCw swing 1
- Each spectra was normalized by the median spectra for the
swing.
- You can see rfi at 8310 to 8349.
az swing 0 rms/mean by
az (.ps) (.pdf) CW
-90 to 270
az_swing 1 rms/mean by az
(.ps) (.pdf) CCW 270
to -90
- For each az position the rms/mean was computed for each
frequency channel
- plots were made of each az swing
- each horizontal colored line is the rms/mean by freq
channel for that azimuth position
- the az positions are labeled on the right edge
- an offset was added for each position for display
purposes.
