Intro

    Aeronomy datataking typically runs 3 systems during an experiment:

• Radar interface to record the ion line
• 500 KHz bandwidth, windowed sampling
• echotek: two 5 MHz bands, windowed sampling
• To record clp and topside, we configure the echotek to accept all the ipps..
  
• usrp: 25Mhz bandwidth continuous sampling.

Summary:

• We currently save the echotek raw input (backed up eventually to tape)
• We save the usrp raw data until the final data processing and the results have been loaded into the madrigal database.
• We then delete the raw input data...except
• We save the raw HF usrp and echotek data forever. This is so it can be reprocessed at different integration times.
• The spectral data are eventually backed up to tape.

• The disc space needed for the  raw data output:
• echotek: 1.89 Tbytes/day
• usrp     :  8.64 Tbytes/day
• These value are independent of whether you are running clp or topside.
• The disc spaced needed to store the output spectra is shown in the plot below. The space needed is a function of what fraction of the time you run clp and topside.
